SummerSlam 2004

1. The Dudleyz defeated Rey Mysterio, Paul London, + Billy Kidman by pinfall

This was a fun opener, but as usual, much too short. Still, a good match including some guys that deserved to be on the second biggest show of the year.

Rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

2. Kane defeated Matt Hardy by pinfall

The fact that everyone knew Kane was going to win this match didn't help, but I still enjoyed this one. I'm one of the few, but this was an action-packed little match.

Rating: 2.5

3. John Cena defeated Booker T by pinfall

This was a solid match, but far from what it probably could have been. Cena was still finding his groove and Booker was kind of stuck in a rut.

Rating: 2.25

4. Edge defeated Chris Jericho and Batista

I'm not quite sure why Batista had to be involved, but this was good stuff. Edge was just starting to come back from his injury and Jericho was Jericho.

Rating: 3.25

5. Kurt Angle defeated Eddie Guerrero by submission

***Match Of The Night***

Angle gets his revenge in another stellar match between these two. How can you go wrong with these two guys in there?

Rating: 4

6. Triple H defeated Eugene by pinfall

This will forever be Eugene's shining moment. This is a good example of Triple H making his opponent look good even though he still comes out victorious. This is also a good example of where Triple H should have gone over.

Rating: 2.75

7. JBL defeated Undertaker by disqualification

This was another shocker. I had absolutely no expectations for this one and by the end of the match they won me over. Far from a classic, but this was a solid match.

Rating: 2.5

8. Randy Orton defeated Chris Benoit by pinfall to win the World Heavyweight Championship

A lot of people rave about this match and I'm not quite sure why. I'm not really a huge Orton fan, so that may play a role, but this is more solid than it is spectacular.

Rating: 3

Well, there really is nothing bad on this show. You also have one classic and a few surprisingly good matches. This show is definitely much better than I remember and I can say I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
