Night Of Champions 2009

1. Chris Jericho + Big Show defeated Legacy by pinfall

This was sort of an odd choice as opener, since both teams are heels. I guess they figured Jericho would get a good enough reaction since it's in Philadelphia. Standard match here.

Rating: 2.25 (out of 5)

2. Christian defeated Tommy Dreamer by pinfall to win the ECW Championship

This was a pretty big disappointment. I knew going into this that Dreamer was way past his prime, but I thought the mix of the match being in Philly and his opponent being a guy who was on quite a roll would help this out. I was wrong.

Rating: 1.75

3. Kofi Kingston defeated Carlito, Primo, Jack Swagger, MVP and Miz by pinfall

This was actually quite a bit of fun. Primo and Kofi really stood out in this match, yet both of them are in their same positions in the company over a year later.

Rating: 3

4. Michelle McCool defeated Melina by pinfall

This was slightly better than their match at The Bash. Not much else to say other than this was better than a lot of divas matches.

Rating: 1.25

5. Randy Orton defeated Triple H and John Cena by pinfall

I liked the WrestleMania match better, but I'm glad this one got more time than that one did. The double tap was kind of silly, but Cena getting RKO'd while he had Cody Rhodes up for the Attitude Adjustment was pretty cool.

Rating: 3.5

6. Mickie James defeated Maryse by pinfall to win the Divas Championship

This wasn't horrible, but the crowd did absolutely nothing for the entire match. It felt like this match was 20 minutes long.

Rating: .75

7. Rey Mysterio defeated Dolph Ziggler by pinfall

***Match Of The Night***

Kind of an odd spot on the card for this one, but these guys acted as if they were in the main event. The match had a big match feel and you have to give Ziggler his due here. Good match.

Rating: 3.5

8. Jeff Hardy defeated CM Punk by pinfall to win the World Heavyweight Championship

This was quite disappointing after their solid bout at The Bash. This was very competitive, but the pace was a lot slower. They would definitely make up for it at SummerSlam.

Rating: 2.75

Well, it was nice to see a show that actually went the whole three hours, but a lot of this dragged. There were some solid matches throughout the card, but this show concept, for whatever reason, just doesn't seem to work that well. Maybe if they tried to make the championships mean more they would be able to pull this off.
