SummerSlam 1991

1. Texas Tornado, Ricky Steamboat, and British Bulldog defeated Warlord and Power and Glory by pinfall

This was a decent opener, but I have to say I thought it would be a little bit better. However, it got the crowd into the show and that was it's sole purpose.

Rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

2. Bret Hart defeated Mr. Perfect by submission to win the Intercontinental Championship

***Match Of The Night***

This is without a doubt one of the best matches of the early 90s, if not the entire decade. Both guys put on a heck of a show and it will forever be remembered as the match that solidified Bret Hart as a superstar.

Rating: 4.75

3. The Natural Disasters defeated The Bushwackers by pinfall

This was probably better than most would expect, but it was just filler and predictable.

Rating: .5

4. Virgil defeated Ted Dibiase by pinfall to win the Million Dollar Title

Another great story that was told on this show. The match wasn't as classic as Bret/Perfect, but the story was perfectly told.

Rating: 3.75

5. The Big Boss Man defeated The Mountie by pinfall

The match really isn't very good, but all of the shenanigans afterwards are pretty classic.

Rating: .5

6. The Legion Of Doom defeated The Nasty Boys by pinfall to win the Tag Team Championships

This was by no means a masterpiece, but it was exactly what everyone wanted to see at the time.

Rating: 1.5

7. IRS defeated Greg Valentine by pinfall

This really killed the crowd and was not as good as you would have thought it would have been.

Rating: 1

8. Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan defeated Sgt. Slaughter, Gen. Adnan, and Col. Mustafa by pinfall

The match wasn't bad, but it really wasn't a main event caliber match. We all knew who would win and with all of the Warrior stuff going on backstage, it only hurt the match.

Rating: 1.5

There are some down points in this show, but there is no doubt that this is one of the best shows of this era. There was a legendary match, a fantastic angle, and some decent action in between, making this an easy thumbs up.

Overall Rating: 82%
