Royal Rumble 2004

1. Batista + Ric Flair defeated The Dudleyz in a Tables Match

This was pretty pathetic. This didn't even get as much time as a standard Raw match. There is no reason they should have booked as many matches as they did if this was all the time they were going to give these matches.

Rating: 1 (out of 5)

2. Rey Mysterio defeated Jamie Noble by pinfall

This was another pathetic excuse of a pay-per-view match. These guys deserved better. They gave a nice effort in the few minutes they had.

Rating: 1.75

3. Eddie Guerrero defeated Chavo Guerrero by pinfall

The way they went about this match was as if they had 15 minutes, but then were told they only had 8. So you had the slow build of a good match, but then it just sort of ended without much happening. I understand why they had to shove this on the card, but come on.

Rating: 1.75

4. Brock Lesnar defeated Hardcore Holly by pinfall

This match started off hot, but died real quickly. Brock looked to have no interest in having a good match.

Rating: 1.5

5. Shawn Michaels and Triple H fought to a no contest

Well, this one was certainly a lot better, but these two have had much better matches. The non-finish did not sit well with the fans and I'm not too sure why they really even did it. This is a good match and worth checking out if you're a big fan of either guy.

Rating: 3.5

6. Chris Benoit won the Royal Rumble

Many people consider this to be among the best Rumbles. I'm not sure I agree. I was a huge Benoit fan at the time that I saw this and even with the feel good ending (not so much anymore), I still just thought it was good. I didn't like the ending at all and there were quite a few slow spots for it to be great.

Rating: 3.75

I'm not as big on this show as most people are. Add in the fact that Benoit is now a disgrace to the business and that certainly doesn't help. The undercard is rushed, but the main matches do deliver, just not as much as I thought they would. This is worth watching, but don't put it at the top of your list.
